Fons Schobbers

Craftsmanship, sensuality, vitality and movement dominate in the work of Fons Schobbers. He has a preference for powerful, abstract shapes inspired by nature in general and the human body in particular. Crisp, clean lines that intersect soft curves. Tension in the forms is created by the extreme demands of the material in wich Fons is working. Visible and noticeable in his work is an urge. Almost constantly at work, he investigates, finds, processes, puts everything upside down and starts all over. Always looking for the perfect form and expression. Fons creates sculptures in bronze, marble, wood, steel and glass. Models in plaster and polyester. Well known are the six sculptures from guilder notes he made for De Nederlandsche Bank and the eleven meter high sculpture out of corten steel for the European headquarters of Sabic in Sittard. The sculptural bench 'Elisabeth' is also known to large audience and photographed by Erwin Olaf for the cover of the magazine Miljonair Wonen.
