Nikita Seleznev explores the place and logic of sculpture within a modern, international context. Nikita’s approach centers on challenging classical sculpture and craftsmanship within contemporary political and technological frameworks. Seleznev has worked with traditional sculptural materials such as clay and concrete, as well as found objects, metal, and plastics, frequently combining these materials with sound and video. With Komi heritage, a culture rooted in northern Russia where craft is deeply embedded in tradition, Seleznev brings a unique perspective to his work. He actively seeks methods that allow contemporary sculpture to expand the range of approaches and ways of engaging with objects in art, design, fashion, and daily life.
