From a fascination for the 'less visible' and the 'raw', I create a subjective reality in which essential emotions such as happiness and sadness relate to each other in an idiosyncratic way. In this way I invite the viewer to wonder but also to introspection. In summary, my work is an investigation into the invisible layered structure of human vulnerability.
In this research I involve the material around me.
Trained as a restorer, I come into close contact with the (romanticized) beauty of damage and degradation in my field. Decay shows us a glimpse into the necessary material structure of the object. This makes the presence and raison d'ĂŞtre of the object much more tangible for me.
From this angle I often include a degree of subtle transparency in my work.
My work also contains references to the material-technical age of an object.
