Soundboard rose in harpsichord, carved beech
For the rose in the sound-hole of our home-built harpsichord, I designed a hexagon pattern based on blowflies and maggots – a typically Australian motif.Â
Carved with a scalpel at the kitchen table, the rose was my first woodcarving since childhood.
