Woodworm, no. 2

carved red siris

I enjoyed making a second woodworm. It is very similar to Woodworm, no. 1 except that one end is curved back on itself. I like the challenge of creating movement from a static block of wood and unlocking the pattern of the grain, which is particularly striking in Australian red siris.

The woodworm is free-standing, so can be viewed from every angle. The form is tactile. Tension arises at the point where two parts just touch.
