"Divergence Rotation _ Polyhymnia" is a work in which the desire to repurpose previously used material is combined with an idiosyncratic interactive visual narrative. In the 18th and 19th centuries, a famous antique figure was added to in a different way in the flavour of French Baroque or C.D. Rauch's Classicism, and later the matching head of the antique original was also known. Confusingly different versions of the leaning muse "Polyhymnia" can be found in many parks and museums. The aim of the sculpture is to juxtapose these in one work and allow the viewer to choose.
The fragmentary work is favoured by the stencil technique developed from street art, which is why two further versions of the theme were created in 2023 and 2019, panel paintings on steel.
The name of the muse Polyhymnia, who is said to be responsible for "many songs of praise", can itself be associated with different versions.
A saw blade was placed on the steel corpus in such a way that it can be turned by hand into different positions with the different heads. You can choose between the baroque Dedameia, the classicist version of Polyhymnia, the antique original and the artist's personal muse, P.J. Harvey.
