Perspective matters!

Sometimes you just have to pause for a moment and ask yourself: Where do I actually stand? And from which perspective do I look at the world?
With start'19 in mind, we asked our members to share their perspective on the apostrophe from our logo with us. The response was overwhelming!

Using a wide range of colours, techniques and materials, the participants explored the meaning of the apostrophe – or whether it is an apostrophe at all! We are amazed by the diverse, colourful interpretations that have reached us. They will accompany all of us on our way to start'19 and demonstrate one thing over and over again:

Perspective matters!

A symbol as small and simple as an apostrophe can trigger a storm of creativity. The diversity of the many interpretations is the result of one crucial difference among the artists: their point of view. With the hashtag #checkyourperspective, the first have already re-thought their perspectives, presented them and shared them with the community – many more will follow in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!

Your perspective matters, too!

We all have different perspectives, of course! In order to show your own point of view, you don’t necessarily need to be a professional artist. We therefore invite everyone to take part in our campaign and create something of their own with our craft template. At first glance it seems to be an apostrophe – but what happens if you change your perspective?

You can easily download and print this sheet. Why don’t you think about your own perspective for a while when putting it together? Our craft template is a suggestion and should serve you as a basis. Don't be afraid to paint it, stick something on it, turn it upside down ... You don't even have to turn the colourful page outwards!

We are looking forward to many colourful apostrophes and non-apostrophes – after all, an object such as this can be many different things …

Everyone can participate, regardless of age, nationality and gender. We all see something different in the finished object – and each of these views is worth showing! For example, what would a child see in it, not knowing what an apostrophe even is?

Take photos of your result and share it on social media with the hashtags #checkyourperspective and #sculpturenetwork. Your perspective counts!
