Mirek Struzik
Mirek specializes in large scale landmarks with dynamic lighting tech. His sculptures undergo a spectacular metamorphosis each time when the Sun sets and the lamps reveal their true colors.
The defining aspect of his Mirek's is its ability to transform itself at dusk and present the nature transposed from a micro to macro scale through use of biomimicry (as you can see in Bubble Forest and Dandelions sculptures.) His series of sculptures created for parks and gardens (Walk, DNA, Adam & Eve, Sleeping) were also based on naturalistic design principles and were designed to amplify the effects of natural light.
When the sun sets, the dynamic illumination systems built in Mirek's sculptures let them undergo a complete metamorphosis, completely changing their character. It’s a great feature in dynamic public places, where a lot of people walk. As Bubble Forest proveds, art also serves as perfect landmarks that make navigation in the area easier. It also works interactively, as an attractive selfie spot.
The material Mirek uses most commonly is stainless steel, however he also works with natural wood (Splinters) and wood composites (Roots.)
Mirek's artworks are engaging pieces that carefully fit, without necessarily seeming so, into their spaces by using a creative logic.
As an artist, Mirek has a successful track record of urban-sited and integrated public artworks in multiple cities with municipal and private clients. The body of works includes public art projects around the world public, art plans for municipalities, and public urban installations. My projects have been completed in American cities, such as Dallas, Chicago, Kirkland and San Mateo, but also all over the world, in Seoul, Dubai, Chicago, Istanbul.
