Residencies

The birth of artistic expression is a moment of intense emotion, for the public, but also for the artists. neimënster is honored to accompany the development of these projects at different stages of their journey. Discover these special moments of creation by diving into the heart of past, present, and future artist residencies at neimënster.

REINFORCED ACTIVITY

The “artist residencies” component, a major aspect of the center, was further expanded in 2020 and the team continues its development. If the results of the works in progress could not be presented to the public, neimënster set up virtual meetings during the month of December to allow the artists to met their public on video-conference platforms.

ARTISTIC RESEARCH

neimënster’s ambition is to give a real place to experimentation, whether in terms of disciplines or aesthetics. The artists working in our premises benefit from an exceptional setting, equipped work spaces and support from the center’s teams.

MULTIDISCIPLINARITY

neimënster’s mission is to welcome artists in the best possible conditions and to promote exchange between them, regardless of their discipline. The cultural center thus preserves the pluridisciplinarity that has always characterized it, making these creative cohabitations its trademark.

ACCOMMODATION

15 small apartments (former cells) are made available to the artists. These apartments are also rented at preferential prices by the country’s cultural institutions and associations.

The main focus of the cultural program is positioned around three main axes very closely linked to each other:

neimënster affirms its support of creative work by developing its residency program. This program is particularly oriented towards young and emerging artists. This support also takes the form of joint productions of works by artists from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. International artists are chosen for their artistic skills and the relevance of their research and proposals.

Since the creation of the center, engaged and political art has characterized its activity. The center’s activities include exhibitions, conferences, and plays with historical, sociological, educational and political content (often within the framework of thematic focuses). The programming for young audiences is also part of this approach.

Dialogue between different cultures and identities are the main themes of neimënster’s cultural program. Many of the highlights of its activities are designed to bring together different audiences and to cross the boundaries of genres and disciplines.

 

The neimënster team offers services based on 3 principles:

The majestic setting of the abbey, the sophisticated infrastructure and the state-of-the-art technical equipment makes neimënster a unique place to organize symposiums, conferences, meetings, dinners, receptions and large parties. The team puts all its experience at the service of its clients in order to combine pleasure and comfort according to their professional objectives and requirements. In addition to its conference package, neimënster offers tailor-made solutions and takes care of the conception and management of events from A to Z, in close collaboration with numerous caterers, suppliers and service providers in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. The perfect realization of private, corporate and socio-cultural events contributes to the notoriety of neimënster and to the revalorisation of its heritage. This activity also allows neimënster to welcome new audiences. Large-scale socio-cultural events are an important part of this commercial activity. These are mentioned in the cultural retrospective and are intended for the general public.
