This work of art was inspired by Ed Hawkins' climate stripes, which uses a series of colored, chronologically arranged stripes to visualize long-term temperature trends. Based on such a graphic, the artist created this work from 172 painted slats made of lime wood.
It shows the global average temperature from 1850 to 2022.
“It is very important to me to make as many people as possible aware of this global and complex issue. I am convinced that each and every one of us can achieve a lot. There needs to be a change in our thinking towards more mindfulness and frugality. We live in a consumer society and should therefore ask ourselves more and more often whether we all actually need these vast amounts of material things.”
Includes screws and dowels for easy wall mounting.
