Transfusion kinetic installation by Katharine Dowson

Transfusion consisted of red silicon oil that flowed in droplets from a suspended acrylic pipe down taught fishing lines at various speeds.

Transfusion  was featured in Blood: Life Uncut, at the Copeland Gallery, Peckham (2017) as part of the Blood Season  for The Science Gallery, London and Melbourne, Australia.

Transfusion consisted of red silicon oil that flowed in droplets from a suspended acrylic pipe down taught fishing lines at various speeds.  The oil collected in a reservoir at the bottom. A peristaltic pump then moved the oil up silicon tubing back to the acrylic pipe to continue the cycle.

‘I intend the viewer to feel the fragile nature of life as they look upon a shimmering biological wall.  A visceral experience of seeing the stuff of life flow before them.’
