BRAIN DRAIN

The Brain Drain is part of my EX VOTO cycle. They are votive figures echoing those that can be seen in the ancient baroque churches placed by the faithful as a sign of gratitude for the grace received.

Hanging sculpture and video projection.
The projection is a CT SCAN of the brain sculpture and is a journey through its mysteries. A becoming of cryptic ancestral forms that follow one another in a continuous generative morphing.

In fact, one day I wondered what mysteries the three-dimensional form I had created could contain; this sort of surgical exploration resulted in surprising images.
It is as if these figures were already present but invisible in empty space; the act of modeling the sculpture captured them and made them visible.
A trap for the unconscious?
