It's a wrap! This year over 700 people visited our events, we welcomed 73 new members and met at 20 Dialogues all over Europe. The numbers are great and very encouraging but even more importantly, we were all able to meet new friends, strengthen our network and enjoy three dimensional art at its best. Let's take a look at the highlights of what was yet another great year!

In 2024 the Sculpture Network newsletters were supported by the Waldemar-Bonsels-Stiftung. Thank you very much for the support!
Online Magazine
To peruse at leisure before the New Year begins: the two most popular articles in our online magazine on the theme we had for 2024, Sensing Sculpture. And as a small bonus: a brand new article about our November edition of the Online Club. Have fun reading!
The Poetic Potential of Sound
Sound art is a relatively new shoot on the ever-expanding stem of the arts. Especially the digital revolution in sound technology in recent decades has created many new possibilities, such as ‘object-based audio’, a technique often used by sound artist and composer Casimir Geelhoed (NL, 1995). With a few buttons on his iPad, he can control a large number of virtual sound sources simultaneously during a live performance. Groups of sounds spread through the room like swarms, flow around like an overwhelming vortex, or fly up into the air. This creates an abstract play of forms in a space that interfaces with choreography, architecture, and sculpture.
Have you ever touched the nose of Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois, for good luck or rubbed St. Peter’s feet in the Vatican? You are not alone! Let us explore why we feel the need to touch some statues more than others – and whether they are, in fact, lucky.
The Online Club: Louis le Roy and Sara Vrugt – Re-nature
Two generations, two approaches but one common frame of mind: nature is the driving force, if not the co-creator in the community art of Louis le Roy and Sara Vrugt. The Sculpture Network Online Club session on 18 November 2024 was hosted and moderated by Anne Berk, with Piet Vollaard giving an insightful lecture about Louis le Roy´s eco-cathedral. And later, trained fashion designer and artist Sara Vrugt gave insight into her community art project 100,000 Trees and a Threaded Forest.
There was also a lot going on on our social media accounts such as Instagram! Here are three works by the artist members who received the most likes this year.
