Swiss Triennial of Sculpture | Laboratory for Young Art

With the Laboratory for Young Art, Bad Ragartz once again opens a space for the young voices, forms and perspectives of the next generation of artists as part of the 10th Swiss Triennial of Sculpture. The Swiss Triennial invites artists between the ages of 18 and 30 to bring their perspectives on the present into public space and to contribute to the anniversary edition of Bad Ragartz 2027.

Bad Ragartz is one of the largest open-air exhibitions of contemporary sculpture in Europe. Every three years, Bad Ragaz and Vaduz are transformed into a landscape of three-dimensional art under the open sky. A total of 10 juried works from the Laboratory for Young Art will be integrated into the main exhibition.

New three-dimensional works will be created for the Laboratory for Young Art. The further development of an existing artwork is also permitted. Submissions may include sculptures as well as installation-based or kinetic objects. The works must withstand outdoor conditions for the duration of the exhibition. Two-dimensional works such as paintings, drawings or photographs will not be accepted, nor will purely video-, digital- or light-based works without a physical object.

The Swiss Triennial of Sculpture Foundation supports each selected project with a dedicated grant of CHF 5,000. The grant is intended for the realisation of the submitted project. The works must be completed and ready for collection by the start of installation in March 2027.

The application period for the Laboratory for Young Art runs until 30 June 2026. Applications are accepted exclusively via the application form on the Bad Ragartz website (https://badragartz.ch/en/bewerbung). Further information on the suitability of artworks and the application dossier can be found in the application guidelines.

Artists who wish to experiment within the dynamic relationship between the present, public space and the future, and who seek to build connections between people, places and ideas, are invited to submit their projects for the Laboratory for Young Art and become part of the 10th Bad Ragartz.
