Fundacion Rosón Arte Contemporáneo (RAC)

The Rosón Foundation Contemporary Art based in the city of Pontevedra, in Galicia, Its main purpose is to support art and culture by carrying out projects and activities that encourage artistic creation and its dissemination both in the Galician context and in the framework national and international.

Likewise, the foundation is the repository of a private collection of more than 300 works by 170 national and international artists. This collection is partially exhibited, both in the Foundation's facilities and in various exhibitions in the form of loans, always in order to offer a vision of contemporary art to promote knowledge and reflection on the art of our time.

With the aim of promoting dialogue between artistic entities and the social fabric, the Rac Foundation has made a commitment to support contemporary creation through the establishment of the Residences Program. In this way, the foundation invites artists from different countries of the world to carry out specific projects to be developed and presented at its headquarters, in the historic city center of Pontevedra. This program thus opens the Foundation's link with contemporary art beyond mere collecting to integrate into all stages of the creative process.

Parallel to the Rac Foundation develops an important pedagogical and formative work with guided visits to the collection, meetings between students and artists and activities related to literature.

Residency program for artists

The activities of the Rac Foundation include the realization of a residency program for artists that aims on the one hand, the approach of Spanish and international creators to the Galician cultural sphere and, on the other, the dissemination of their artistic creations nationally and internationally. In this sense, the Rac Foundation aims to serve as a pole of attraction for those artists interested in temporarily transferring their scope of creation to Galicia in order to develop specific work based on their relationship with the environment. In this way, it is also intended to promote rapprochement between artists and cultural and educational institutions of the Galician community.
Every year the Foundation Board of Trustees selects an artist invited to the residency program. The stay has a variable duration depending on the type of work and the project that each artist proposes. The program includes, in addition to transportation and subsistence costs, an aid for the production of the works, as well as the presentation of the work carried out at the headquarters of the foundation located in the historic center of Pontevedra. Likewise, the foundation publishes a catalog that includes both the creative process of each artist and their results.
