Nothelfer Galerie

The Georg Nothelfer gallery was founded in 1971 by Georg Nothelfer. The gallery was located on Uhlandstrasse for 30 years, in the center of West Berlin. In 2008 the gallery moved to spacious rooms in the Tiergarten triangle. In autumn 2010 the showroom gallery Georg Nothelfer was opened in Charlottenburg.
Georg Nothelfer ran the business until his death, after which his long-time employees Irene Schumacher and Vera Ehe continued to run the gallery together for almost two years. Vera Ehe has been solely responsible for the management of the gallery since January 2023.
The Georg Nothelfer gallery sees itself as a program gallery. It has held a classic position in the constantly changing market for 50 years and presents informel, tachism and gestural painting, but also shows contemporary art, dealing with the legacy of abstract post-war expressionism. In addition, a large number of publications and artist editions have been created under Georg Nothelfer. Around six solo and group exhibitions are shown annually. The national and international trade fairs have a special meaning for the gallery.
