In 2003 she founded the ABTART gallery in the publishing house, which from then on took up more and more space in her life. When she decided to sell the telephone book publisher in 2007, she founded the Karin Abt-Straubinger Foundation for the promotion of contemporary visual arts in the same year and continued to push the further development of her gallery.

THE FOUNDATION
Karin Abt-Straubinger was surrounded by art all her life. Even as a successful publisher, she cultivated exchanges with the art scene in Baden-Württemberg: she collected young art, supported cultural institutions and initiated artistic projects herself. In her encounters with young artists, she experienced very directly how difficult it is to live for art and from art.

For this reason, Karin Abt-Straubinger decided to set up a foundation to promote contemporary fine arts. The Karin Abt-Straubinger Foundation was established in 2007.

The goals of the foundation are:

the promotion of visual artists
supporting art projects
the communication of contemporary art

ABTART - gallery and exhibition house - space for contemporary fine arts.

ABTART does not exclusively represent artists and is not a program gallery. There is freedom in these spaces. The freedom to present art in a wide variety of exhibition formats, independent of market mechanisms: from solo exhibitions to curated group exhibitions, and all this in museum-quality premises.

The program is curated by Karin Abt-Straubinger, gallery owner, collector and founder under the credo »Art should be accessible to everyone«. Most of the art on display is available for purchase, as this is the most direct way to promote art. She is supported by a small but highly ambitious team.
