Stiftung Museum Schloss Moyland
Moyland is a museum for modern and contemporary art, as well as an international research centre focusing on the life and work of Joseph Beuys. The museum is dedicated to the classic museum tasks of collecting, preserving, researching, and documenting, as well as exhibiting and educating. It rests on the four pillars of exhibitions, the Joseph Beuys Archive, the castle and park, and events.
The museum´s collection is based on the former private collection of the van der Grinten brothers, featuring visual and applied arts from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. The world´s largest complex of works by the artist Joseph Beuys forms the core of the collection. This is preserved and presented in the historic castle and gardens (with exhibition hall and sculpture park). Affiliated with this are the Joseph Beuys Archive and the museum library. Through its research, exhibition, and education activities on the work and influence of Joseph Beuys, Museum Schloss Moyland manifests itself as a Beuys centre for an international public.
Special exhibitions featuring classical and contemporary art, as well as numerous events, including an annual herb garden festival, a hydrangea festival, and the artisans´ Christmas market make Moyland a cultural meeting place.
