Beyond Reflection

Fitzrovia Gallery, London, is pleased to present Beyond Reflection, an exhibition by Brigitte Spiegeler, which unfolds into a duo presentation with Louise Harley. Running from 28 April to 10 May, the exhibition begins as a solo show and transitions on 4 May into a dialogue between two distinct practices.
At a time when reflection is increasingly mediated by digital surfaces, Beyond Reflection repositions it as a spatial and material process shaped by light, movement, and presence. Spiegeler’s work explores the layered meanings of place through analogue camera obscura photography made in London’s Inns of Court, capturing duration rather than fixed form and rendering architecture as soft, temporal impressions. Subtle interventions with gold leaf introduce a restrained luminosity, suggesting what exists beyond immediate visibility.

From 4 May onwards, Harley’s drawings and paintings enter the exhibition, focusing on acts of attention and orientation, depicting found objects and natural forms as markers within space. Where Spiegeler engages with the accumulated past of a location, Harley brings attention to the present moment of inhabiting it. Together, their works propose reflection not as a passive condition, but as an active and shared experience—one that unfolds through movement, perception, and the continuous negotiation of place.
