Walk&Talk — Bienal de Artes "Gestures of Abundance"

Gestures of Abundance proposes a shift from the idea of scarcity to abundance as a way of being in the world. This change is not symbolic — it is ethical, ecological and political. It involves cultivating practices that regenerate rather than extract, that listen rather than impose, and that connect rather than isolate. Here, abundance is not just a theme, but an ethical approach and political position, in which Walk&Talk Biennial affirms art as a field where other forms of coexistence can be rehearsed: forms that are more aware of the interdependence between humans, territories and more-than-human worlds. Through artistic creation, research, education and sharing, the program claims the abundance of possibilities that already exists — even in times marked by tension, uncertainty and disagreement — and welcomes its collective experience.

Walk&Talk Biennial will have its first edition between September 25 and November 30, 2025, on the island of São Miguel, Azores. During these two months, it invites us to be–with the island and participate in an expanded program that includes exhibitions, performances, installations, excursions, meetings, parties and moments of listening and learning. More than 80 artists, curators and specialists are involved in creating new projects with and for this territory, collaborating with local entities and communities. The Biennial will occupy natural and urban spaces, museums and cultural centers, but will also form new contexts for sharing and creating. At the core of this process, the question: how might we shift our perception of scarcity to one of cooperative abundance?
