Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien

A new commission by Paris-based artist Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, who makes textile works, performances and installations that explore how ideas of femininity and the cosmos cross different cultures, generations, and materials.

Her first solo exhibition in the UK will be developed during a residency at Gasworks from January to March 2025, and will include a new installation and series of wall-based works incorporating craft techniques passed down the matrilineal line of her family for many generations.

The Lead Supporter for Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien’s exhibition is Prue MacLeod. Gasworks’ Exhibitions programme are supported by Catherine Petitgas, Gasworks Exhibitions Supporters and Arts Council England.
