The Friends of the Vostell Malpartida Museum Association is pleased to present a talk by Javier Panera titled Guitar Drag, by Christian Marclay: A Story of Rock and Ghosts in the Shadow of Fluxus. The event will take place at the Vostell Malpartida Museum on Friday, 22nd November 2024, at 7:30 pm, with free entry. This talk forms part of a series coordinated by MarĂa del Mar Lozano and is included in the association’s programme of activities, supported by the Vostell Malpartida Museum and Malpartida de Cáceres Town Council.
Javier Panera is the Director of Cultural Activities at the University of Salamanca, Director of the Master’s Programme in Advanced Studies in Art History, and a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art at the University of Salamanca. He has curated over 150 exhibitions in Spain and internationally, including This Is Not a Love Song (shortlisted for the City of Barcelona Award for Best Exhibition of 2017), Rock My Religion (finalist for the Notodo Awards for Best Exhibition of 2009), and Baroque and Neobaroque (2005), Masquerade (2006), and Irrespektiv. Kendell Geers (2008), all of which were listed among the top ten exhibitions of the year by El Cultural of El Mundo.
Javier Panera previously served as Director of DA2 (Salamanca Contemporary Art Centre) from 2004 to 2012, Director of the Explorafoto International Photography Festival from 2006 to 2010, and Coordinator of the National Music Video Competition at the Medina Film Festival. His current research focuses on audiovisual culture and the intersections between visual arts and pop music.
