The commission brief asked for an intriguing, large scale and sturdy sculpture that took account of local peoples ideas gathered in BCP Council workshops with adults and children. Diane also engaged with people from the University of the Third Age, resulting in four people's designs being used on the three Groynes - note the Groynes changing positions in relation to the cone! The ground around the sculpture has been seeded with wild grasses.
Corten Steel Cone form references the local architecture, Helter Skelters, Ice Cream Cones children had modelled in clay and Sea Buoys. The Groyns have images designed in a workshop with Diane by adults from the University of the Third Age. The towl wrapped bronze head has suggestions from local people added to it, starfish, shells , wave forms, a lizard and a flower form that Diane copied from a child's clay model for an earing, and cherry earring for Bournemouth Football Club.
