LIGHT\TRACE No. 9

LIGHT\TRACE No. 9 is a delicate light installation that explores the subtle relationship between light, transparency and material. Suspended lightly within the space, its translucent presence changes continuously with the surrounding light, revealing different layers of the work throughout the day.

Transparent fibre optics are arranged in flowing loops and embedded between two finely shimmering layers of golden fabric. Their individually hand-worked surfaces release light at selected points, transforming the fibres into delicate luminous traces. Drawn through the fabric in carefully composed loops, they create a poetic, almost calligraphic language—somewhere between writing, drawing and light.

The soft folds of the textile allow the fibre optics to move visually forward and backward, creating a sense of depth and spatial ambiguity. Under artificial light, the fabric can almost disappear, leaving the luminous lines suspended in space. In daylight, the relationship reverses: the golden textile becomes more prominent while the fibre optics recede, catching and reflecting the ambient light across its shimmering surface.

This continuous transformation is central to the work. LIGHT\TRACE No. 9 is not a fixed image but a light sculpture that responds to its environment and to the passage of time. Its almost weightless materiality and restrained luminosity create an intimate presence—quiet, atmospheric and constantly changing.

The work invites the viewer to slow down and observe how light can become drawing, how fabric can become space, and how something seemingly fragile can transform the atmosphere of an entire room.
