In the Grip of Caffeine is inspired by the barista’s rosetta on a cup of coffee. The rosetta pattern is transformed into a 3-dimensional carving. The grain and colours in the sandstone mimic the texture of milky foam. The swirls morph into hands that grip a face with a look of anticipation at the thought of enjoying a cup of coffee.
