Cornelia Konrads lives and works in Barsinghausen, Germany. Whether permanent or ephemeral, her in situ creations in public spaces and private gardens have made her a key figure in Land Art. The artist often uses materials she finds on site – in this case, old grapevines, gathered on the vinyeards of Maison Ruinart. Her sculpture "the arch" mirrors the design of the classic facades of the main building as well as the arched underground cellars, where the vine transforms into champaign. Soaring into the air, the vine shoots provoke astonishment and wonder, gracefully and humorously suggesting the creative powers at work in nature.
