Land-Art Rittisberg, Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT)
Site: small valley, crossing the main hiking trail to Rittisberg
Material:Local stones, mortar, wood, metal

The „Schladming-Dachstein Region“ is a popular tourist destination, which comes with environmental impacts and pressures. The Project „Land Art Rittisberg“ should show a different approach to enjoy Austrian mountains - in a softer way and with awareness.

Cornelia Konrads’ work shows a stone wall, which emerges from the earth at its outer ends and opens up in the center. It frames a small footpath, which leads straight into the wilderness of a narrow, mostly overlooked valley. Towards the middle some stones seem to detach from the masonry, it bends backwards, as if a strong pressure is ripping it apart.

The artist intends to cause a little irritation in the ambition to follow the main road, to cause a pause, distract the view and arouse curiosity about this unknown terrain, which might be hidden behind the wall.
