Sing a Song on the Ground

Primal Vessel

Prime Vessel drifts in the ephemeral island between sea and land, a lost museum holding the prime elements that shape our world.

Prime Vessel is a permanent installation at the Beidaihe Da Butong Art Park, created as part of a residency SSG took part in over the summer of 2025 at the time of the park's official opening. Hidden in the interior of a museum like a vitrine, standing on a lost island of sand, is a paper boat on wheels. The Prime Vessel rests hidden in an alcove within its fibreglass box, momentarily appearing and then disappearing with the endlessly changing light, echoing fleeting, primal memories that emerge momentarily through the fog of time only to disappear once more. Light filters through Primal Vessels' translucent walls, casting dynamic shadows that shift with the viewer's perspective on the nonlinear fluidity of time.
