An artist curator friend wrote about a series of my sculptures as being syncopated and as lively as good jazz, the kind of boogie woogie you could dance to. Researching the painting called Broadway Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrian was the inspiration for this sculpture.
I had a very small studio at the time so it was a challenge to create this large piece. I love making them modular to get them out the door and for shipping. Simple shapes can leave my sculptures open to interpretation, neither completely abstract nor narrative but something in between.
