Polymastos 2

Polymastos 2 is part of a series of works in black Belgian marble?.
The series consists of sections from an imaginary landscape, in a kind of parallel universe where the landscape is a body. Landscapes are constantly changing and renewing themselves under ever-changing weather conditions and through the tireless deeds of man. Remnants of ancient cultures, color changes, microscopic remains… can be read by those who understand the language. Like marks on a skin, remnants of life in earlier times. The beauty of this stirs curiosity and also softens the sense of ongoing destruction.
The stone is very dark when treated with sandpaper, polished and oiled. I decided to leave a selection of scratches, lines and other 'leftovers' from my interventions and I 'painted' with the oil on the stone in a controlled way.
