PETER DANIELS
I am an artist working in various mediums. I have spent years in clay, then acrylics on canvas, next in performing in feature films and TV series. Currently finishing a stainless-steel sculpture and an indie feature film of my own.
Hello; this is Canadian artist Peter Daniels. I am a graduate of K.S.A. with a Commercial Art Certificate, a Fine Art Certificate and a Fine Art Diploma. I also hold a B.F.A. from Notre Dame University. I completed my studies in 1974.
My time after graduation presented me with O.F.Y. grants for three summers teaching ceramics at various communities throughout B.C. Next I was the Art Master at St. Michaels University School in Victoria B.C. for one year, then onto the arts and crafts Instructor at Matsqui Insitution for almost ten years. I left teaching after being the Crown Witness in the worst prison riot in Canadian history of prison riots.
I opened my studio full time in 1981 with a huge focus on stoneware and high fire porcelain. 1987 I began publishing my art into prints, and by 1994 I was performing standing in for Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong comedy.
2000 I opened Sand and Sea gallery in Ocean Park B.C.
I have exhibited extensively over the 50 years, and was nominated for the Bronfman Award of Excellence In Canada for my clay work. I produced over 70000 items in clay which sold. I painted hundreds of originals in acrylics and watercolor, some images have been published into prints and cards.
The Department of External Affairs selected a few of my porcelain pieces for their Permanent Collection in Ottawa.
Currently I am working in stainless steel and on an indie film of my own.
