In our culture the face plays a central role. I am interested in the image of the face as a sign of our human existence. The traditional portrait is often understood as a testimony of reality. This is illustrated through examples from the past, such as the Veil of Veronica, and from the present the digital selfie. With the picture of our faces we leave traces of our being in the world. My sculptural work examines the expression of these traces, forms of likeness and the relevance of visibility.
In my work I use casts of my face which I combine with hand built components.
