"One cannot shake off the feeling that Monika Majer's stone sculptures are downright animated, or at least filled with an essential presence. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the sculptor encounters her stones as much as possible at eye level. For Majer, stone is movement, transformation, surrounded by silence, and if the sculptural process were a dance, the stone would lead. And the artist has to do what artists generally find most difficult: she has to let something be, accept imperfection. Sculpture for Majer is process, process detachment, detachment cognition."

"Man wird das Gefühl nicht los, dass die Steinskulpturen von Monika Majer regelrecht beseelt, mindestens aber von einer wesenhaften Präsenz erfüllt sind. Vielleicht liegt das daran, dass die Bildhauerin ihren Steinen möglichst auf Augenhöhe begegnet. Stein ist für Majer Bewegung, Transformation, umgeben von Stille und wäre der skulpturale Vorgang ein Tanz, der Stein würde führen. Und die Künstlerin muss das tun, was Künstlern und Künstlerinnen allgemeinhin am Schwersten fällt: Sie muss etwas sein lassen, Unvollkommenes akzeptieren. Bildhauerei ist bei Majer Prozess, Prozess Loslösung, Loslösung Erkenntnis."
