HEINZ THEUER YEAR work

Heinz Theuerjahr, born in 1913 in the back Pomeranian stolp and died in Waldhäuser in the Bavarian Forest in 1991, is one of the most important sculptors in Germany after 1950. The quintessence of his work focuses on the deeper grasping and representation of the creative appearance: the representation of the animal is at the center of his extensive work. Already during his art studies at the State University of Art Education in Berlin, he found the Bavarian Forest as „ his place from the first day of creation “ on his long journeys in 1930. In 1940 he moved to Waldhäuser, a small village at the foot of Lusens in his studio house. In 1942 he married Zenzi Schrank. In the self-chosen loneliness, with a strong concentration, he created an important work that contains the aura and soul of the creature. To do this, he had to set off on the African continent fourteen times in order to find his statement of the great simple form about the animal world and the archaic forms of Egypt..
