Brancusi in Berlin - Dialogue exhibition tour in the Neue Nationalgalerie
Find out more about Brancusi's formal language and artistic development and explore selected works from the museum's sculpture collection
The art historian and lecturer of the academy lecture series ‘Sculpture of Modernism’ Katharina Maria Raab shows us how Constantin Brancusi’s sculptures set new standards in modernism through reduced lines, precisely balanced spatial dimensions, proportions and the conscious use of space, material and perception.
With more than 150 works, it is the first comprehensive exhibition of the exceptional artist's work in Germany for over 50 years.
In addition to major works such as ‘Slumbering Muse’, ‘The Kiss’, ‘Bird in Space’ and the ‘Infinite Column’, the exhibition in cooperation with the Centre Pompidou is the first to show a partial reconstruction of Brancusi's famous studio outside of Paris, which is considered the key to understanding his work.
After a coffee break with SN showroom in the BMB SpreeCafé in the Neue Nationalgalerie, we will - depending on the weather - view the sculpture garden of the Neue Nationalgalerie and the sculptures at the Kulturforum or in the current collection presentation.
The event will be held in German (English, Russian,Spanish on request).
Please bring your own presentation (catalogue/portfolio) for networking.
