MANDANA MOGHADDAM / Woman Life Freedom

Art's ability to transcend cultural boundaries is a central theme in Mandana Moghaddam's work. They touch on communication between people, migration, and feminism and refer to Iranian cultural history as well as to burning current events.

Her main media are video, sculpture, and installations with hair, mirror mosaic, and concrete as recurring materials. The exhibition features works of mirror mosaic from the Wonderland series as well as Chelgis I, a human-scale sculpture, covered in hair and enclosed in a glass case. The title refers to a girl in a Persian fairy tale, whose name means "forty braids". Moghaddam has created the new sculpture What are they going to do with the inevitable growth of sprouts? Chelgis VI and also a brand new work in the series Wonderland.
