Sculpture Network announces the winners of the Emerging Sculptor Award
Sculpture Network is thrilled to announce the winners of the Emerging Sculptor Award. For the first time, three prizes are awarded to support the selected artists' creative journey. The 1st Prize was granted to Ruta Putramentaite (b. 1989, LT), the 2nd Prize to Jindřiška Jabůrkova (b. 1995, CZ), and the 3rd Prize to Nevena Ekimova (b. 1984, BG).
How does hot bronze smell before it becomes art? How does a sculpture made out of mist feel on my skin? How do sound installations sound when the volume is switched off? Are there such things as artworks that are sweet? When does a sculpture touch me, and when am I allowed to touch a sculpture? Questions like these and many more will be explored this year as we dedicate ourselves to the topic of Sensing Sculpture.
Life in a Different Resolution/ Random International
Curator Bogomir Doringer brings an overview of twenty years of work from the art group Random International in NXT Museum Amsterdam. According to Doringer, ‘The digital works of the group are creative, collective dances between the audience and technology; they create fascinating stories in our minds about what it means to be human.’
In keeping with the annual theme of Sensing Sculpture, the works of our three Featured Artists appeal to different senses. Check out their profiles on our website!
