Portal del Vent (Gate of Wind) is a sculpture that presents the existance of open spaces. Its curves proyect and rest between themselves, generating energetic vectors that we can only see in a part. The sculpture doesn´t finish at its structure, it extends creating more shapes around itself, around the scpectator.
Portal del Vent follows the suggestion to create a symbol for the promenade of a harbor.
The concept: a Meeting place for children, young people and adults commemorating the legend of La Luna de Valencia (The Moon Valencia).
The monumental sculpture is located at the intersection of the beach promenade and the city's main boulevard. The red-orange lighting is the key to achieving its visual impact at night from hundreds of meters away.
Community engagement & commemorative work: This sculpture-symbol of monumental character was raised as the search of the community of the city of Denia to seek a monument that is in a transcendent place (promenade of the port) in order to create a center of calm and serenity where young people gather, a meeting point for tourists and above all, an aesthetic reference of the highest order. It also commemorates an old legend of the Valencian Community: The moon of Valencia.
Several meetings were held with representatives of neighborhood associations to determine the specific location and above all, the scale, color and choose the shape, among the 3 proposals made by our team. Luckily, there was total agreement from the very first moment. Today it is the meeting place for young people to chat, meet and children play in their environment and on the base of the sculpture.
