The work of art gives the viewer something to do: by lifting the octahedron out of the ground, the sculpture is set up in full size. A sublime moment in the life of a sculptor is made repeatable and tangible, even for the person turning the crank. But it also stands for: “Pulling the cart out of the mud.” The plumb line in the octahedron symbolizes: “to bring oneself into balance”, O for east and W for west is welded into the corners of the artwork, since N and S change when the sculpture is turned out. The side rods are from the prison's scrap metal collection and some parts from the artist's studio, e.g. parts of the bridge railing torn down as part of the renaturation of the Feuertobelbach, discarded agricultural equipment, a remnant of a spiral pipe forged by the artist, the handbrake of a burnt-out Mercedes Goldtimer, etc. The theme of the cube is taken up here as an open yet defined space with connections to life in society and its legally anchored FRAMEWORK CONDITIONS. The collaboration project with Mirko Siakkou-Flodin started on May 4, 2012 and involved 5 prisoners, 4 officers and the artist himself for a month, the welding work was carried out by the welding specialist and prisoner Tom, the three ID portraits in the black boxes were also created.
