Christina Sporrong
Christina Sporrong is a metal sculptor currently based out of Southern Sweden. She builds large steel sculptures incorporating movement, fire or light, scale and sound to provoke a reaction to the piece.
She is a blacksmith, welder, educator and spitfire, creating the world she wants to live in.
I am a process-oriented artist and seek to understand the world around me through my work. I was often called a spitfire, someone who danced to her own tune no matter what.
I am inspired by science, the natural environment and our tenuous relationship with it, as well as the technological footprint advancing on our planet. There is an acute incompatibility between human advancement and our connection to nature. Â I continue to search for the root of the initial deviation.
I build large scale sculptures using steel, kinetic motion, fire and sound. I work on comissions as well as public sculpture, and hold classes in welding and forging. Please check out my website for more information~
