Susan Williams

I work with site-specific installation, video, photography and print. Some of my work is kinetic and involves light weight materials moving in the wind. Often my work takes the form of energy fields unexpectedly made visible.

I use light, space, air and materials to explore a place and its connections. My aim is to make what is already there more visible, at times capturing what we don’t normally see, light, wind, space, the potency of a colour. Illusions such as floating and evanescence reoccur in my work making further links to magic and the metaphysical. I usually use materials linked to the everyday and I am inspired by ordinary life and the need to find meaning in our lives.

I trained at Kingston University and at the Royal Academy London. I have exhibited throughout Britain including Chichester Cathedral, Wysing Arts and Royal British Society of Sculptors, London and undertaken residencies in the UK, USA and Spain.
