A brief introduction to the contemporary art scene in the heart of Europe with curator Veronika Čechová
Join us for an insightful online event introducing the contemporary art scene in the Czech Republic.
Veronika Čechová, our new Coordinator, will provide an overview of the region’s artistic landscape, drawing from her extensive experience in curating and supporting emerging artists. Since 2017 she has been working as a curator in the team of Jindřich Chalupecký Society (JCHS) - a platform for Czech post-revolutionary and contemporary art in international context. Since 1990, the Society awards the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, the most prestigious recognition for emerging visual artists in the country, celebrating innovative artistic practices and providing recipients with exhibition opportunities, international residencies, and professional support.
The event will also feature presentations by two distinguished Czech sculptors: Pavla Sceranková (*1980) and Kryštof Brůha (*1990) whose work reflects the dynamic and evolving nature of Czech contemporary sculpture. Kryštof Brůha was awarded the Jindřich Chalupecký Award in 2023, while Pavla Sceranková was a finalist in both 2007 and 2015 editions. Read more about them HERE.
