Petrit Halilaj

The work of Petrit Halilaj (1986, Kostërc, Skenderaj-Kosovo) is deeply connected to his biography, his country’s recent history and the consequences of the political and cultural tensions in the region.

Halilaj's personal experiences and circumstances form a pretext for striking up new histories, both private and collective, which develop into complex and ambitious installations always in dialogue with the space accommodating them. In a large-scale intervention in the Palacio de Cristal, the Kosovan artist will create an installation with sculptural elements and plant forms that reflect on unifying two realities – the inside and the outside. Through subtle gestures, Halilaj is not only commenting the building’s history but he also invites birds and other life forms from the park to come inside, welcoming diverse kinds of love.
