The diversity of my work stems from a special interest in the nature of physical materials and from a range of themes that ultimately relate to landscape.  This might be the natural landscape with the accumulation of buried layers and human intervention or the architectural landscape of cities and also the interior landscape of the mind.
The appeal of physical materials lies in their ability to absorb and embody ideas and express them with a sense of immediacy.
In the past the work tended to include a sense of continuity and connection but recently it has started to move away towards feelings of uncertainty, disconnectionand disruption. Things are about to fall apart or are damaged, exposed and transformed.
Recently I have started on a new body of work called Erosion initially concerned with physical changes in the landscape. Currently I am exploring  the effects of erosion on architectureand ancient sites.
Ultimately the intention is to expand the theme into areas of social and climate change.Erosion is a value free word and does not necessarily imply negativity. Prcesses tend to be cyclical and erosion or an opening has to emerge for the seeds of change to grow.Exactly howthese ideas will take shape in three dimensions is an ongoing challenge
